Say nothing and try to do it all, even if quality suffers. Drop the task you like least without telling anyone. Tell the relevant people early, explain the position and agree priorities. Wait until end of day, then apologise.

Where once a virtual assistant simply fielded calls and tidied inboxes, the modern role demands fluency across several overlapping systems and the judgement to know when a task should be escalated rather than resolved alone.

Explain that everyone makes mistakes and move on. Acknowledge it promptly, correct it, and explain how you will prevent it recurring. Point out that the brief was unclear. Apologise repeatedly without fixing the error.

10. You support two clients who are competitors. One asks what the other is working on. What do you do?

Share a little, since it seems harmless. Share only if they promise to keep it quiet. Politely decline and explain that you keep all client information confidential. Avoid answering and stop replying.
